I'd like Rodimus to continue in that book, but I'm not interested in him being under anyone. I'm also interested in seeing which cast members return to MTMTE under Megsy. I'm interested in seeing where this goes. Having Megatron turn Autobot and try to win things over the way he originally did (with the public on his side) is an incredibly interesting way to go for the story, but it also sounds like a weird fanfic. I wish he had more time with Bumblebee, although I can clearly see how he came to respect the bug. (The writer on MTMTE is more enjoyable, in my view, than the one for RiD.)Īs for the actual events, I think the stuff with Megatron was a little rushed. It kept the voices of the two books, but it also made things seem uneven. I enjoy that this crossover was handled better than most Marvel/DC crossovers in that they fully integrated the two books together instead of having each one just focusing on its own cast, but this was hurt by the fact that it was clear there were very different writers behind the different casts. I enjoyed the conclusion, but I didn't like the storytelling involved in these 12 issues. "Did you harness the power of bickering?" Double ha! "No one wants to hear about your latest midlife crisis".

It was rushed, but I see what they were trying for, so I give credit for that. Generally, I like the idea of all these war-torn machines looking at themselves going "what have we become" and trying (fumbling) to find alternate solutions and paths. Soundwave having a mental breakdown at Megatron's formal faction changeĪlthough the ending is very poorly set up throughout DC, the final resolution of the shadowplay on Senator Shockwave did at least pay out in the end. This is too complicated a concept to be expressed so slapdash. It seems like an attempt to reclaim the mark, as it were, but I think the whole scene relies on that bit from Chaos Theory where Prime is ranting about what "Autobots" mean, and if your goal is to establish a new, peaceful order, why not create an entirely NEW symbol (say, the NAIL faction's mark?) to indicate your intention to completely break with the past? At this point, both the Autobot and Decepticon symbols are hopelessly muddled in blood and compromise why adopt either one at this point? Why would anyone? What makes the Autobot symbol 'purer'? I dunno. And just putting on the badge of the "oppressors" and claiming it's suddenly changed its meaning. I just can't see Megs' turn really lasting.

Maybe it's that whole "we fight for peace" thing, which is ridiculous on its face. The Autobots turned morally gray quite a long time ago, and for some reason that's been really easy to absorb, but the Decepticons suddenly getting all 'no, you don't understaaaaaand what we meaaaaant' - that's just not going down well. I continue to be unable to wrap my head around it. The whole thing about 'what the Decepticons were really fighting for' just.

Hell, even within the issue Megatron's full turn isn't really supported. The conclusion felt pretty rushed to me, reliant on a couple of very fast face heel turns that, although set up quite a long time before in Chaos Theory and other long-ago storylines, still feel like they're largely coming out of nowhere. I think mostly I'm still just relieved that it's finally over and looking forward to the storylines splitting again. I picked up the last issue this morning and.
